Quotes on Love

Love is passion, obsession, someone you can't live without. If you don't start with that, what are you going to end up with? Fall head over heels. I say find someone you can love like crazy and who'll love you the same way back. And how do you find him? Forget your head and listen to your heart. I'm not hearing any heart. Run the risk, if you get hurt, you'll come back. Because the truth is there is no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love - well, you haven't lived a life at all. You have to try. Because if you haven't tried, you haven't lived.
-Meet Joe Black (movie)-

You don't love a woman because she is beautiful, but she is beautiful because you love her.

A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person.
-Germaine Greer-

Today I begin to understand what love must be, if it exists. When we are parted, we each feel the lack of the other half of ourselves. We are incomplete like a book in two volumes of which the first has been lost. That is what I imagine love to be: incompleteness in absence.
-Edmond and Jules de Goncourt-

Love doesn't make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.
-Franklin P. Jones-

Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it... It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, you risk even more.

It seems to me that the best relationships, the ones that last, are frequently the ones rooted in friendship. You know, one day you look at the person and you see something more than the night before, like a switch has been flicked somewhere, and the person who was just a friend is suddenly the only person you can ever imagine yourself with.
-The X-Files (the character Dana Katherine Scully)-

The supreme happiness in life is the conviction that we are loved -- loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves.
-Victor Hugo-

You know you're in love when you can say anything to the person and you know he won't laugh at you. When you can see his face when you close your eyes. When you can still feel his arms around you holding you tight after he's gone. When you can still taste his kiss after you have said goodbye. You can tell you're in love when you miss him even before he's gone. When his voice lingers in your ears. When his presence eases any pain. When his name sends chills down your spine. When he is the only one you can think about. You know you're in love when you can see all his hopes and dreams and his soul when you look into his eyes. When you call him at 4 in the morning to say I love you and mean it. When his tears stain not only your shirt, but also your heart. When you are hurt just because of these tears. When even a simple chore done with him can become a lasting memory. Ultimately, you know you're in love when you can't imagine living without him and can't figure, how did you live before you knew him? When he fulfills every need and without him you are incomplete. The love of someone else completes the heart, mind and soul all at once.

Someday, someone will walk into your life and make you realize why it never worked out with anyone else.
